Wine of the Week: Sutter Home Pink Moscato

by Kelli H. on August 17, 2012

I know what you’re thinking…”Sutter Home? Really?” but, I don’t care! This bottle of Pink Moscato is delicious! I picked this bottle up for only $3.50! Cheap wine for the win! I am so happy with this bottle. About 3 or 4 years ago I picked up a bottle of Sutter Home’s regular Moscato at Trader Joes. Honestly, I picked it up because it was cheap & the label sounded tasty. At the time, I’d never tried a moscato. It’s not usually something I drink all the time, but I have had a few fun nights drinking Sutter Home’s moscato with some girlfriends.

This pink moscato was especially tasty after an afternoon of hiking in the Sierra’s. David & I went away to my parents cabin last weekend for some r&r before David starts school again next week. This hike was only about 4 miles total. We hiked to the lake, shared a sandwich, threw a stick for Ryder (that’s him swimming!) a couple dozen times, and then headed back. Truckee was very hot last Friday and when I got back I wanted nothing more than that chilled pink moscato. It was pretty sweet, but I think it’s less sweet then the regular moscato. The color is beautiful! The taste reminds me of white grape juice, but without the added sugar. I really liked it! I’ll definitely be buying it again.

I was a little confused by the label since it says “Argentina” on it, but then it says bottled in Napa, CA. Not sure what that means…It’s alcohol is 10% and after 2 glasses I was feeling pretty fly! Best part is that I don’t have to share it with David. He won’t drink it, although he did taste it, and said he liked it! He just likes to stick to his beer. I definitely recommend it, and it would be so perfect for a Valentines Day drink.

I hope to share a few pictures from our trip, but I had to share this one today. Ryder is such a proper gentleman! I love that puppyboy. Well, I’m off to go sip some more pink moscato & then to watch Private Practice on Netflix Instant while doing an arm and ab workout. Happy Friday!

Haha, hey, Sutter Home is still good wine! I’ve had their regular Moscato before, I actually tried it for the first time a couple months ago. I’ll have to try this one!

I agree! But I think it gets a bad rap.

You are so lucky you can still be happy with inexpensive wine. I can’t drink anything less than $10/bottle anymore and my average is quite a bit higher. Enjoy it before you suffer wine creep!

I seem to enjoy cheap white wine, but I’m not a fan of cheap red wine.

Are the Sutter Home wines available in Canada?

That’s a good question. You can shop on their website. I’d check there first.
