by Kelli H. on January 24, 2012

Beer: Kona Brewing Co. Fire Rock Pale Ale

Alcohol: 5.8%
Location: Kona, Hawaii
Package Type: six pack 12 oz bottles

Aroma: Malty, slightly sweet, with mild hops.

Appearance: Not very pale. Kind of an orange color with some haziness.

Body & Texture: Medium to light. Crisp.

Aftertaste: Light hops leaves more of a bready aftertaste.

Overall Impression:
Let me start off by saying, I like Fire Rock. I’m probably bias since it reminds me of my trip to Kauai in December. I opened this on a very rainy night, and the flavor brought me right back to the resort’s beach. The number one beer on tap during our trip was Fire Rock, so I became pretty accustomed to it. Fire Rock is tied to good memories and fun times for me.

If you’re not quite used to IPA’s then Pale Ales are a fine place to start. They’re a great introduction to hops since their less bitter. I think Fire Rock is very drinkable. At $7.99 a six pack I would definitely buy it again. It’s a crisp beer, that might make you feel like you are on a beach in the tropics, or at least make you wish you were. If you’re still getting used to craft beers, definitely give Fire Rock a try.

Oh I LOVE me some Kona Brews! Longboards are my favorite, followed by their Big Wave Ale. You have me craaaazing a beer now!

Love the picture of Ryder playing with the lemon, my dog Bengy loved playing with lemons too until he bit into one, your lemonade sounds good I’ll have to try it sometime.
