I’d been wanting to try Sneak Attack for some time. I finally spotted it at Whole Foods back in January on sale for $7.99/ six pack. I’ve since seen it’s been retailing from $8.99 to $9.99 depending on the store. Since it was on sale and I have been forming quite a crush on saison’s I had to pick it up. Funny thing is the day I picked up a six pack, David brought me home one to try from his friend, Kyle’s house.
I am really diggin’ this saison. It’s super easy to drink and I love the hints of spice to it. The cardamon is a perfect fit for this saison. I love that they release a saison in the winter. Usually I associate saison’s with spring or summer but due to the cardamon it totally works. I also think the color is beautiful and it’s so smooth. It has a tad less carbonation than I’d normally prefer for beer, but saison’s can get away with having less carbonation in my opinion. I also tend to drink them much slower than a regular ale.
This beer is light, easy to drink, refreshing, and has nice hints of different spices to keep you on your toes. It’s one I like to sip on for a while and really think about the different flavors coming through. I’m definitely a fan of Sneak Attack. For 21st Amendment, I’d say it’s my second favorite of their beer, Bitter American being first, though they are completely different styles. I think if you’re a beginner saison drinker, you should give this one a try. My mom isn’t a big saison fan and she actually liked this one. If you see Sneak Attack and you’re up for trying something different, give this one a try!
