A couple months ago I saw some posts going around of “Day in the Life”, where bloggers would share what a typical week day looks like for them. Since seeing a few of these posts, I’ve wanted to do my own. I have to admit, it felt incredibly silly to document my daily life. I wondered to myself, who in the world would care about my boring day to day life? Then I told myself, I care! My blog is my journal and I thought I’d be interested in looking back on a typical day in January 2015.
I haven’t talked about it much on the blog, but David and I are going to be moving soon. We’ve been looking at houses for a long time, and we’ve officially put an offer on a house and our offer was accepted. Since our lives will be changing in the near future, I wanted to remind myself what life was like before we moved.
So, let’s look at a typical work day as of January 2015:
I start my morning at 5:45 a.m. and walk into the room next to ours (aka Ryder’s room, Man Cave, Home Office, Workout Room). I roll out my mat and start a 15-20 minute Tone It Up yoga video.
After yoga, I usually give Ryder a little love and admire what a cutie boy he is. Isn’t he precious all curled up? I love that boy.
After yoga it’s time to hit the shower and get ready for work (no cameras allowed).
Once I’m all ready for the day I feed Ryder and get my breakfast ready. Once it’s all ready, I sit down at the kitchen table and browse blogs/check the news while I eat my favorite meal. This is usually between 6:45-7:00. I really love this time of day because I’m alone, it’s quiet, and my breakfasts are so tasty! I usually wake up pretty hungry. Lately I’ve been enjoying sauted spinach underneath 2 eggs, with a side of sliced up banana, almond butter, hemp seeds, and coconut shreds.
My mom and I have been carpooling together for years. We work together and she lives about 10 minutes away from me. She swings by, picks me up, and we’re off to work. I love that we get to use the carpool lane once we get on the 101.
I get to work around 7:45 a.m. and start my French press. It’s very important I get my coffee! We love Blue Beagle Coffee which is roasted right down the street from the office. I also love my old French press that Ted at work gave me. It was his grandmothers and he gave it to me because he knows I love French press.
After getting to my desk and working for a few hours, I eat a mid-morning snack around 10:30 a.m. Today’s snack was my most recent favorite Coconut Lime Snack Balls, which I plan on sharing this week with you. Yay!
I work until 12:00 p.m. That’s when I take my lunch break. This day I was way too excited about my salad which consisted of mixed greens, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dried figs, and an apple cider vinaigrette. I ate the salad first and moved onto my Chipotle Sweet Potato soup. I usually browse my phone while I eat my lunch. If Ryder comes to the office with me, I walk him around the yard or play around with him in the dog pen. After 30 minutes it’s back to work.
Usually between 2:00 or 2:30 I have my daily cup of tea. I love The Republic of Tea’s Cardamon Cinnamon. I’ve been drinking it for a couple months now and am almost out!
Between 3:00-4:00 I walk to the kitchen and get myself some sort of snack. Today it was an organic apple. I then leave work between 4:15-4:30.
Once home, I immediately take Ryder on a walk or run. Since the time change it’s mostly been short 1 mile walks around the neighborhood. During the spring-fall I try to take him on 2.5-3 mile jogs. If David is home and not at CrossFit he’ll walk/run with us. This is when David and I really tell each other about our day.
Once I get my workouts out of the way it’s on to dinner! David and I made Lamb patties topped with goat cheese, mushrooms, onions, garlic and a side of roasted broccoli. It was quite delicious!
I know it’s bad, but we watch an episode of Bones (season 9 on Netflix) while we eat our dinner. It’s by far my favorite part of the day.
Once Bones is over, we usually tend to browse our phones for an unreasonably long time. It’s a bad habit and we both have to push ourselves to get off the couch and get to the dishes. After dishes it’s time for vitamins, and then we usually do whatever we want.
This night I worked on a blog post to finish up the night. Followed by reading The Unimaginable in bed until I fall asleep between 9:30 – 10:30.
Not the most exciting day in the life, but if you ever wondered what I was up to, well now you know! I am a creature of habit, so this is what most my days look like during the week. I thrive on routine and try to stick to it as much as possible Monday-Friday. I’m looking forward to my days looking a little different once we move, but I also want to savor these last couple weeks while I can still carpool with my mom! I know when we move things are going to get a tad crazy for a while!
