A few years back I was at a beer festival, and I tried Twilight. Of course, it was the end of a long day of beer tasting and I’m sure that my taste buds were completely shot, but I remember I went over to the Deschutes booth so excited to try their offering only to be let down by Twilight Summer Ale. I never gave it another chance, but recently my friend, Kelly commented on my Sierra Nevada Summerfest review and stated that she enjoys Twilight more than Summerfest. They are different styles to be fair, but since I generally enjoy ales over lagers I thought that I better give Twilight another fair chance.
Last Saturday morning David and I decided to head out to the beach with a couple friends, so before leaving we stopped and bought sandwiches and beer. I was so happy to see that Twilight was on sale for $7.99 for a six pack. I was also super happy about the 5% alcohol since I tend to be light weight and drinking high alcohol beers in the sun is not highly advised for myself.
When we got out to the beach I opened up Twilight and took my first sip. I was SO happy with our purchase. Thanks to my reader I now have a new favorite summer beer. I absolutely love the color of the beer, the smell is great, and the body is so light and crisp. It’s definitely a refreshing hot weather beer. I also really like the label. It’s bright, cheery, and makes me want to drink this beer out doors. I highly recommend trying Twilight as your next summer beer. It’s not as hoppy as most pale ale’s I usually enjoy, but it seems to be pretty balanced. Cheers to summer beers!
