Beer: Bear Republic Grand-AM
Date: 5-16-14
Location: Healdsburg, CA
Availability: Somewhat limited distribution for now in 6 packs and at Brew Pub
Alcohol: 6.5%
IBU: 45

Appearance: light golden, clementine, foamy white head, tons of carbonation bubbles

Aroma: Intense dank hops, citrus

Body & Texture: smooth, light to medium bodied, feels very soft

Aftertaste: Bitterness that definitely lingers on the tongue for a while

“Inspired by our team’s passion for racing, Grand-Am is an American Pale Ale worthy of the “Racer” family. True to our roots, this sessionable yet assertive ale balances both classic and new American hop varieties with a distinct malt backbone. Start your engines…” – Bear Republic

Overall Impression:
I loveeee this beer! It’s definitely one of my favorites right now. I’m not sure how it isn’t an IPA because I really don’t think I would be able to tell the difference between this and an IPA. I think that’s why I like it so much. I love pale ales and this is such a good one. I’d definitely recommend this pale ale to any beer drinker. The price was super affordable, too! I think I paid $7.49 for a six pack at our local beer shop, Bottle Barn. It’s got a great color, awesome head retention, and the aroma is top notch — on scale with Lagunitas dank-a-licious aroma’s. I haven’t always been the biggest fan of Bear Republic’s bottled beers, (love the ones on tap though) so I’m very pleased to now have a new favorite of theirs.

Have you tried Grand-AM?
or any Bear Republic’s beers?
