Avocado-Tahini Dip

by Kelli H. on September 27, 2013

Do you ever find a blog and make a ton of recipes from it and then totally trust that food blog? Well, I do. I totally trust recipes from Eat, Live, Run, The Sweet Life, & most recently Marin Mama Cooks. When I saw Marin Mama Cook’s recipe for this avocado-tahini dip I knew I’d be making it for a niner’s game soon.

David invited his brother, cousin Brandon, and Brandon’s girlfriend, Kim over to watch the game last Sunday. We enjoyed a few brewski’s and this dip together. By the end of the game, the dip was completely consumed, so I’d say it went over well. It definitely went over better than the niner’s losing to the colts (boo!). C’mon on niners! What’s going on?! It’s okay…it’s still early in the season.

The dip came together in under 10 minutes. It was super fast to prepare. Doing the dishes wasn’t too bad either, though any time the food processor is involved I dread cleaning it. Do you? I’ve been loving anything avocado lately, so this dip definitely hit the spot. I think next time I’m going to try to turn it into a guacamole hummus though and just add a can of beans and see what happens. Don’t be surprised if you see a recipe for that in the next coming weeks…

Do yourself a favor and make this recipe for the next party or game you watch. It feels pretty healthy but doesn’t lack on flavors. It is definitely reminescient of hummus with the tahini flavor, but it’s also almost like guacamole. I think it’s a winner!

Avocado-Tahini Dip
Recipe from Marin Mama Cooks

1 medium avocado, peeled, pitted & chopped
1/4 cup cilantro leaves
1 lemon, juiced (about 3 tablespoons)
1/3 cup tahini
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup water

1. In a food processor pulse cilantro until chopped. Throw in avocado, lemon juice, tahini, salt, and cumin. Puree until smooth, scraping down the sides if necessary. Drizzle in 1/4 cup water to desired consistency. Serve with chips or fresh veggies.

Hey girl! Thanks for the super kind words and I’m so happy that when you see a recipe on my blog, you trust it 🙂 That makes my day! Yes, I’m right there with you on cleaning the food processor as well as the mixer. Cleaning both of those are time consuming! I can’t wait to hear how the dip tastes with the addition of the beans. Keep me posted. BTW, I gave a little shout out to you in my weekly menu post! Have a great Sunday girl! xoxo, Jackie
