Random Thoughts Thursday

by Kelli H. on August 8, 2013

1. So, looking back it looks like I’ve done ONE Random Thoughts Thursday post this whole YEAR. How is it that it’s already August and I’ve done ONE? I find that very sad. Luckily for those that follow on Instagram you know I’ve been up to good stuff lately.

2. Ryder got a new toy yesterday. It’s his evil lamb. Well, the tag say’s Lamb Chop but I just think it’s evil looking. Ryder lovesssssss it. David said he picked it out himself. Every time David takes him to the pet store to get dog food he buys him a new toy, which is practically every month! This pup has so many toys he now has a toy basket that we keep by the fireplace in the living room. I’m constantly picking up dog toys all around the house and throwing them into his basket, otherwise I step on them and some really hurt!

3. Sadly on Monday my cousin, Troy passed away (on the left). I’ve taken this picture from his sister-in-law, Tresa’s FB page. I’m in shock with the rest of our family. It doesn’t even feel real. This photo was from my wedding last month. Troy and I weren’t very close by any means, but in the last few year’s we had started talking through FB and he would regularly like my statuses, comment, and he read my blog. We had a cigar bar at our wedding once the music was over and that’s where Troy and I really got time to talk. He was so full of life and hilarious. I feel like the whole time we talked he was constantly making me laugh. He was far too young to leave us. I’m mourning the loss of plans we had agreed to make, as I’m sure the rest of his friends and family are. I’ll never forget him, and I’ll always cherish the time we shared together.

4. It almost feels weird to move on to another topic from Troy, but I’m reminded of happy times ahead, like my friend, Elise getting married today! Last Sunday was her bridal shower which was so fun. She’s moving to South Carolina about a week after her wedding, so many of her friends including me won’t see her for a while after. Congrats, Elise! I know you’ll be a beautiful bride! So happy & excited for you future!

5. This week David and I finished watching the show Orange is the New Black. Oh my god did we ever love it! It’s pretty damn original, funny, and also so interesting! It’s sparked up so many conversations between us. I love finding out why each girl is in prision. It’s definitely not a show for everyone, but I really do like it and can’t wait for season 2.

6. Last Friday my parents, David, and I went to Rosso’s for dinner. It’s one of my dad’s favorite restaurant’s and we hadn’t gone together in a long time. The menu had some what changed since the last time I was there, but it was still delicious. We also enjoyed to amazingly delicious bottle’s of wine. I highly recommend both. David was so impressed with the Unti that he already bought a bottle of their Syrah this week. We hope to open it soon with some friends.

7. I don’t really have any pictures back from our wedding photographer yet, but my bridesmaids took these photos of me and my dad right before he walked me down the aisle, and I love them. I think they’re perfect, but then again I think our whole day was perfect. Might sound corny, but our wedding day was definitely the best day of my life. I can’t wait to get the photos and relive it again.

8. With one of our gift cards from the wedding, I bought this tofu press. I’d gotten a recommendation from Maren that it works great. She was telling the truth too, because I used it last night, and I can’t believe how much water came out of my press! It totally changed the texture of the tofu — very cool! I used it for this recipe.
9. I have plans to hang out with quite a few different friends this weekend, and I’m so looking forward to it. I think as I get older I truly appreciate the time we share together. I don’t know if that makes sense, but every time after I hang out with our friends I’m always telling David how much fun I had and how great it is to be with friends.
10. Well, I’m off to go do a work out and watch an episode of Season 4 Fringe. If you haven’t watched this show, it’s available on Netflix (all seasons) and it’s freaking awesome!

Congrats on your wedding, you look so beautiful in your dress! I’m so sorry it was followed by such a tragedy with the loss of your cousin but at least you have fresh memories to treasure.

Love these posts! And damn, my wife looks HOT in that wedding dress, AND in that cute lil blue dress. 🙂
It’s absolutely unbelievable about Troy. 🙁 He’ll be greatly missed. I know we’ll always treasure the memories we had with him at the cigar bar. He was DEFINITELY a character!

Hi Kelli, first off I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your cousin Troy. I’m sending you all some love and prayers.
I love that tofu press and might have to pick myself up one of those. I also took a look at your recipe and I so need to make that.
I’ve heard about the show Orange is the new Black, but wasn’t sure about it, but I think I will give it a shot since you and David both liked it. I’m currently addicted to Mad Men and I’m at the end of season 4. I’m going to try Fringe next as my hubby loved and totally recommends that series. I love scifi, so I know I will love that show. Have a wonderful weekend with your girlfriends! xoxo, Jackie

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your cousin, it’s never an easy emotion to sort out and a life cut too short is always tragic.

On a happier note…you looked BEAUTIFUL on your wedding day, Wowza!

And lastly…London and I are obsessed with Orange is the New Black and I am sad that we only have like 2 episodes left! Thank God season 2 is already in production!
