Random Thoughts…Friday?

by Kelli H. on August 24, 2013

Seriously? I’m 26? Sometimes I have a hard time believing it.

I will never get sick of Jason Aldean. I absolutely love his voice. It’s.so.sexy.

My lab rules my life. It’s true.

I really love the way I feel after exercising.  Not before and not during.

I think forest fires are terrifying.

I really want my wedding photos. Another 6 weeks…

A few weeks or maybe a month ago, Ryder had a tick on him. By the way, it was the biggest tick, EVER. David pulled it out under the conditions that I would kill it. No big. I’ve killed tons of ticks in my time. David dropped the tick into his sick, and I was going to squash it with some sort of bathroom brush cleaner we have. The hard end — opposite to the bristles, mind you. I slammed the hard end down onto what I thought was the tick, but seems I had missed. I did it again, and damn it, I missed again. Third times a charm though, and I got that sucker. Before I knew it, the tick had literally exploded all over my white t-shirt and up my arm. I screamed, turned on the sink water and proceeded to wash off my arm. I then ripped off my shirt and practically cried. I’m pretty sure David thought I was dying.

Below is the tick itself, my shirt before washing, and my shirt after washing. I’m quite upset about the after washing shot since I’ve had this shirt since I was THIRTEEN! I know, who has a shirt for 13 years?! But, it was from Maui and it was so soft! I’m not sure I can wear it anymore knowing Ryder’s blood that went through a tick is stained on it.

I’m really bad at doing laundry. Shouldn’t that have came out?

One thing that bothers me about some healthy lifestyle blogs is that they seem like their lives are perfect and they only share the good. I mean, obviously why would people post about their real problems to strangers on the internet? I don’t know, but sometimes it gets really old reading about the same things over and over. I like to read the posts that are when people are real and actually share their struggles, or that they didn’t have a great day! Does that make me weird?

On that tangent, Style Me Pretty is ridiculous. That is all. On that subject.

I feel like I haven’t had a free Friday night at home in so long and it feels so good. I played with the idea of making plans — heck, I even tried, but it didn’t pan out, and I’m okay with that. It feels good to be alone in my room, listening to my favorite music, and just writing.

By the way, blind Pinot Nior tastings are hilarious.

My family & I did a three bottle tasting with the three pinot’s above. None of which were cheap. The Naughty Boy (Mendocino County) was in the mid-twenties, the Tolosa (Edna Valley) was in the low-thirties, and the Etude (Napa Valley) I’m not even sure, but I know it was more than the other two. Funny thing is we all unanimously liked them from cheapest to most expensive. Don’t ever let someone tell you that a more expensive wine is better. It’s all about your personal palate and preference. Plus, there’s so many factors that go into tasting wine. It’s a personal experience.

Ticks freak me out. I am not a bug person but they don’t really bother me. Except ticks. I suck at laundry too but I think the fact that it stayed on shows how nasty they are.

All bugs freak me out! Ticks are really nasty since they can give you a disease!

I am with ya on the feelings regarding exercise. I am not a fan of how I feel while doing it (especially if I am doing a more intense session); however, the after affect is amazing. Also, cannot wait to see your wedding pictures! You have to post some 🙂

I will definitely share some!

I love this post! And ticks are the worst ever. My mom has Lyme’s disease, so I hate them a million times more than I used to, but I have always been so grossed out by them!

Oh my gosh! That is terrible! I’m so sorry to hear that. 🙁

I love blind wine tastings! I tend to find that price doesn’t really matter as far as my preference goes either.

I also agree about exercising, and about the healthy living blogger thing…though I am definitely guilty of sharing more good than bad things on occasion! A lot of my blog readers are friends from real life, so I don’t like to delve into too many personal issues..

I know, I totally am guilty of not sharing the bad, but sometimes I think bloggers (myself included) paint a pretty picture of their life, and maybe other people feel down on themselves about their own lives. I love when a blogger tells a story of a bad day, because it reminds us that we aren’t all living perfect lives.
