Brew Review: Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA

by Kelli H. on August 13, 2013

Beer: Deschutes Brewery Fresh Squeezed IPA
Date: 7-10-13
Location: Bend, OR
Type: IPA
Alcohol: 6%
Availability: Seasonal June-Sept
IBU: 60
Price: Gift from Dad

Appearance: Amber, clear, small head retention, barely any bubbles

Aroma: Citra hops and wonderful grapefruit

Body & Texture: Full bodied, hop bite up front, velvety

Aftertaste: Slight hops with lots of malts

Overall Impression:
This is such a balanced IPA. It’s full of hop flavor upfront but mellows out as it sits in your mouth and you swallow it. You can definitely taste the citra hops which sometimes I’m not a huge fan of, but it’s really delicious in this IPA. The beer tastes very fresh which I also really enjoyed. It’s not highly carbonated which is a trait I usually love in beer, but I still thoroughly enjoyed drinking this one. I would definitely drink this beer again, and I’d even buy it for myself. If you spot this one in the stores, pick yourself one up before it’s gone for the season.

FINALLY found this at a local place (been looking for it since your husband posted it on Instagram) and really enjoyed it! But Bells Two-hearted is still the greatest of all time IMO.

I’m so happy you found it! His instagram picture was really good! haha. I’ve yet to have Bells Two-hearted, but I’ve heard great things.
