Overall Impression:
I’m glad I decided to do a brew review for Hop Stoopid. It’s a beer I’ve been around and tried many times, but just small sips, and I’ve never been a fan. To me it’s known as one of my closest friends favorite beer. David also really loved it a couple years back and would buy a 22 every Friday night for a while. My Uncle Steve also loves Hop Stoopid and will bring growlers of it down to my Nanny’s house sometimes. Unfortunately, in all that time, I’ve never really been a fan, but that changed last Friday night. David & I decided to take Ryder to Sonoma Regional to go for a swim, but we wanted to pick up a beer on the way. There was a limited selection at Glen Ellen Market, so we bought a Hop Stoopid. Hop Stoopid was very refreshing on a warm night at the lake. While I don’t think it’d be a good beer for me to drink alone…the high alcohol definitely went to my head a bit, it was great to share. It’s still not one of my favorite Imperial IPA’s, but at least now if it’s offered to drink, I’ll accept. If you’re a fan of Imperial IPA’s, then definitely give Hop Stoopid a try. If you’re not familiar with Imperial IPA’s, you should probably look elsewhere, because I don’t think this beer is for the lighthearted.
