Last Friday the wonderful people over at Chobani sent me another shipment to try. This time it was their two new flavors pear and banana. I have to say, the pear flavor is so good, I don’t think I’d want to do anything other than eat it plain. I was a little less enthusiastic about trying the banana flavor. I’m not generally a big banana fan, unless they’re under ripe and plain. Banana flavored things usually freak me out.
I took my first bite of it before putting it in this smoothie, and I was surprised to find out that I really like it! I think I could even eat it plain. Baking with it would be awesome. I had ideas of using it in pancakes — YUM! But, I went with this tropical tasting smoothie.
I’ve said before that I’m not a big smoothie recipe fan. I love smoothies, but I tend to think smoothie recipes are silly. Anytime I’ve tried following one, I usually have to make lots of adjustments to get it to work correctly in my blender. Hopefully you won’t have any trouble with this recipe, and know that it’s totally okay to make adjustments to work for you. This recipe will remind you of hanging out in the tropics while you’re dreaming of warmer weather.
Winter Blues Tropical Smoothie
Makes 1 large or 2 small smoothies
1/2 a frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen mago
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1 (6 oz) container Chobani Banana
1 cup light coconut milk
Garnish: Shredded coconut
1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Top with shredded coconut and serve.
