If you’re in Healdsburg, I definitely recommend stopping by Thumbprint’s tasting room. It’s right in the square, which is easy access. The tasting room itself was pretty cool, with brick walls, and awesome ladies ready to pour more samples and answer any of your question. They also have some great shirts! I really loved the pink one with the thumbprint on it. Also, you can probably tell from this picture that their bottles are etched with different color thumbprints, which is reallllly cool. Their wine would make great gifts!
We started the day a little late and since most tastings rooms close between 5 and 6 we ended our day at Murphy-Goode. I had previously visited last summer with my friend, Ali but it didn’t really leave me wanting to go back.
Since Jeff’s also a wine club member at Murphy-Goode and David had never been, we decided to give it a go. We walked in and the tasting room was packed. I couldn’t believe how many people were there! Since there wasn’t any room at the bar for us, we were seated at a table, which I’ve never had happen at a tasting room before. I’m so glad we were seated! I love tasting wine this way. I kind of wish every tasting room offered more tables.
Since we were rollin’ with Mr. Jeff, we were treated a little like V.I.P. which was pretty awesome. Jane poured our wines for us, and she was excellent. Jane was very friendly and knowledgeable. I love when people seem to truly enjoy their job, and Jane definitely does! She even brought out a huge bottle for us to take some pictures with, while we tasted the wine from a smaller bottle. She also let us taste whatever we wanted. We probably tasted about 8 different wines and stayed for over an hour.
We ended our tasting at Murphy-Goode with freshly popped kettle corn and a small tasting of their dessert wine. It was pretty perfect. When you’re in Healdsburg definitely visit Murphy-Goode. I previously didn’t think much of Murphy-Goode before last Saturday, but Jane definitely changed my mind. Try to sit down at a table if you can!
Although, our tasting day only ended up consisting of two tasting rooms, we had a great time. I’m excited to go back to Healdsburg in the future and hit up a few more. Next on my list will probably be Valley of the Moon to pick out some wedding wines. I’m really falling in love with wine tasting lately. I’m so happy to live in such close proximity to so many wineries.
