Boulevard Brewing Co. Double-Wide

Beer: Boulevard Brewing Co. Double-Wide
Date: 2-3-13
Type: Double IPA
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Alcohol: 8.5%
IBU's: 71

Aroma: Couldn't get a clear aroma from it. Wasn't able to really distinguish hops, malt, or sweetness. Kind of reminded me of some homebrews I've had.

Appearance: Hazy, thick head, dark burnt gold

Body & Texture: Highly carbonated, alcohol bite up front, sweet

Aftertaste: Semi bitter but doesn't last long. Pretty dry!

Overall Impression:
My dad lovesssss trying new beers. He especially loves to do tastings when David & I are over. During the Super Bowl we tasted this beer, and all three of us were not very pleased with it. By no means is this a bad beer, but it left something to be desired. It's definitely drinkable and the bottle is very cool. I mean, who doesn't love a fancy beer bottle? I'd have to say I wouldn't buy this beer. I'm not sure how much he paid for it, but regardless, it just wasn't my type of Imperial IPA. It's possible that I'm conditioned to West Coast style Double IPA's, like Double-Jack, because Double-Wide just seemed off. I'd still give Boulevard Brewing another chance in a different category before writing them off.

  2. I love love love Blvd! I like the regular IPA, the pale ale, and the farmhouse ale (Tank 7). I'm actually crazy about Tank 7!
