Brew Review: Two Captains
Beer: Two Captains
Date: 1-11-13
Location: Norway
Type: Double IPA
Alcohol: 8.5%
IBU's: 100
Aroma: sweet hops
Appearance: hazy deep amber
Body & Texture: ridiculously smooth. sweet roasted malt flavor up front.
Aftertaste: Pleasantly bitter but not over bearing.
Overall Impression:
This was another bottle my dad dropped off at my house one night. I kept it in the fridge for about a week and half before tasting it. I wasn't really sure what to think of a Double IPA from Norway. I should know better not to judge a bottle by where it's from, considering I was so happy with Epic's IPA in the past. I was really impressed with this imported beer. It was unlike any DIPA I've had before, but that's a good thing! I'm a fan of the roasted malt flavors and that there is more character to this high IBU beer than just bitterness. On Untappd someone commented that this beer is "dangerously sessionable". I have to agree with that statement completely. I feel that even if you're not usually a fan of IPA's or DIPA's, that you should give this beer a try. It had some citrus notes in the aroma, sitting in your mouth was somewhat malty, and the aftertaste was the perfect amount of hops. Overall, this is just a fantastic DIPA in my opinion! If you're wondering where you can get it, my dad picked this bottle up at Whole Foods. I'm not sure what the price was.

My dad drops off cases of cider at my house, your dad drops off craft beer. I knew I liked you (and apparently your dad too - tell him he rocks!)!
