Overall Impression:
After pouring this beer, I was initially surprised by the aroma. It smells so good! Drinking beer out of a (gasp) wine glass reallllllyyyy enhances the aroma. It might seem weird, but just try it! I think this is a good IPA. I'm not in love with it, but if someone offered it to me, I would gladly take it. I'm just saying, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy it. After trying their Double Jack last week, I think I actually like the Double Jack better. It's probably safe to say that Firestone Walkers beers won't disappoint. If you haven't tried Union Jack, it's worth a try!
I bought this beer last Friday at Whole Foods. They were advertising all beers 20% off, so I figured right after work I'd head over there and pick up a few new ones to try. While I was in the packed beer aisle, I overheard a guy about my age talking to a girl beside him. He grabbed Culter IPA and held it to the girl and said something along the lines of he'd heard this beer was really good, so she should buy it and try it. Being the friendly beer lover I am, I decided to speak up and tell them that I had it recently, and it is really good. I guess they weren't friendly beer lovers themselves, because they both looked at me like I was crazy, didn't say one word back to me, and went back to their conversation. I felt totally dissed! I was just trying to be friendly! Anyway, I couldn't believe how rude they were!

Whoa, that was rude. When I am staring at the wall of beer before me and someone offers an opinion on some, I totally respond. It's always good to hear from other beer lovers their thoughts on beers one is unsure of. At my local WF, the beer guys are usually there asking if I need any help picking something out and always offer suggestions. I appreciate that, especially if I want something new.
ReplyDeleteI like at Whole Foods when the guys offer suggestions, too!
DeleteThat is crazy! I love convos in the beer aisle. What a bunch of jerks....I would also like to say that I loooove this beer, one of my favorites
ReplyDeleteI know! That's never happened before to me. Usually beer ppl are friendly!
DeleteThat is rude! I love having random convos with strangers at the grocery store, or even better, the farmers market (I miss Cali!) Anyway, got any favorite belgian beers? I usually likr the triples :)
ReplyDeleteI use to drink more Belgian beer a few years ago. I'd say a safe on is New Belgium's Trippel, but I think I've seen you drink that before? I'm pretty stuck on IPA's.
