Christmas Treats: Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites

Laurie over at Simply Scratch recently blogged about these little babies. As soon as I saw the post, I knew I had to make and share them. I decided they would be the perfect snack while at the cabin. Baking at the cabin is pretty primitive, so I had to do everything without a mixer, which actually wasn’t as hard as I anticipated. Basically what I’m getting at is that these little treats are super easy to make!

I think they’d be great to add to any holiday gift bag. Personally, I love homemade treats as presents. I love receiving them, but I especially love giving them. I have a feeling I’ll be making these again this season. If you‘re a fan of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups than I’m sure you’ll love these. The sweet and salty combo is out of this world delicious.

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites
Recipe by Simply Scratch

100 square pretzels
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 bag dark chocolate chips

1. Line out 50 pretzels on a lined baking sheet.

2. In a bowl with a mixer; combine peanut butter, powdered sugar, brown sugar, and butter until crumbles form. Form the peanut butter mixture into about 1/2 tablespoon sized squares and place on top of each pretzel.

3. Cover each peanut butter pretzel with another pretzel and gently press together.

4. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave by placing in a microwave safe bowl or measuring cup and heating in 30 second increments. Stir and heat until melted. Dunk peanut butter pretzels into melted dark chocolate and sprinkle with sprinkles. Let set on baking sheet until chocolate hardens.

those look freaking delicious…dark chocolate and peanut butter are both very important to me haha

I’ve made something similar with an oreo cream cheese filling and they were amazing!!! must try the pb!

Those sound pretty awesome. Reminds me of what my mema used to always bring over at Christmas, two Ritz crackers filled with pb and dipped in chocolate. Mmmmmmmm
