Brew Review: New Belgium Snow Day

by Kelli H. on November 27, 2012

Beer: New Belgium Snow Day
Date: 11-25-12
Location: Fort Collins, CO
Type: Winter Ale
Availability: Seasonal
Alcohol: 6. 2%
IBU’s: 55

Aroma: Strong malts and bitter notes

Appearance: Looks black, but in the sun looks more like a Dr. Pepper color. Very tan, thick head which left great lacing on the glass.

Body & Texture: Smooth and bitter upfront

Aftertaste: Strong malt flavor with dark chocolate flavors

Overall Impression:
This really is a great winter ale. I prefer it over Deschutes Jubelale much more. I really enjoyed the roasty malts in the aftertaste and felt it had the perfect amount of bitterness in the initial taste. I would definitely buy Snow Day again. The more I drank this beer the more I enjoyed it. I think New Belgium really did right on this winter ale. I don’t really have any criticism to report. Give this winter ale a try!
