Last weekend, my Aunt Shellie, Nanny, Great Aunt Betty, Mom, David, and I all headed out to Korbel. It wasn't any of our first times. My Aunt Shellie works there and can get us an amazing discount on wine for mine and David's wedding. She had suggested going out there and tasting which champagne we'd like to serve at our wedding. While we didn't choose this Sweet Rosé for the wedding, David and I both really liked it during the tasting. I bought a bottle to share for lunch.
If you're ever in the area wine tasting, I definitely recommend bringing some snacks like above and make your own picnic. We all brought a little something to share while we sat outside after the tasting. Most wineries have beautiful patio areas to sit and share a bottle of purchased wine. They'll usually open the bottle and provided glasses for you. Korbel and other wineries around have gift and deli shops to purchase food, but it's most likely overpriced! Bringing your own is so much more affordable.
This was my third tasting at Korbel. I'm a sucker for sparkling wines, so Korbel is one of my favorites around. I was somewhat sad they were out of my favorite Moscato Frizzante, but I was able to try this sweet sparkling rosé, which I've never seen before. The bottle was $13.99, but was enough for all 6 of us.
The back of the label reads that this sweet rosé, has hints of cherries and berries, which I completely agree with. I loved the color, and that it was just the right sweetness. So many rosés can be too sweet. If you generally like sparkling wines, I don't see how you couldn't like this one.
Korbel is so beautiful, and I definitely recommend anyone to make the small trek out to their tasting room!

I love a dry Rose, not sure that I have ever had a sweet one. What did you end up choosing for your wedding?
ReplyDeleteWe went with Korbel Sec. A bid sweeter than their Brut.
