Classic Guilty Brownies

by Kelli H. on March 9, 2012

These brownies are not guilt free, and I’m okay with that, are you?

 They contain major diet busters like;

How dare I put these beautiful tasty squares in front of you this morning.

When you’re feeling rather brave weak and need to indulge, make these babies.
They are absolutely my favorite brownies. Plus, they’re so easy. No mixer required!

Absolutely no need to ever make brownies from a box again.
Classic Guilty Brownies
adapted from Nestle Toll House
1 2/3 cup granulated sugar
1.5 sticks unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons water
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon instant coffee (optional)
3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine sugar, butter, and water in a large bowl. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Stir into the wet ingredients.
3. Spread into a well greased 13×9-inch baking dish. Bake for 18-25 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out slightly sticky. Cool on a wire rack.
My brownies took the whole 25 minutes. These brownies are crispy on the outside but totally soft on the inside. I also didn’t use nuts this time even though I love them with nuts!
I use 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules because I love the flavor. You can taste it a bit in this recipe, so if you don’t like coffee, you can omit it.
Happy Friday!

But the butter, sugar and eggs are worth every diet busting calorie they contain. Mmmm so tasties.

I didn’t know Dagoba had drinking chocolate! They have some of the best chocolate bars.

My mom got me this from Whole Foods — love it! There’s little bits of chocolate in it.

Sometimes, the only thing to fix problems is a guilty dessert 🙂 My husband is always anxious for a new brownie recipe because he loves the batter! Bookmarking this for the next time we both need a pick-me-up.
