This is the classic chocolate chip cookie recipe.
You really don’t need another chocolate chip cookie recipe if you have this one.
It just doesn’t get better than this.
Go ahead, try out the other recipes.
Try making them healthier (ha!)
Try adding fancy browned butter.
Try allllll the other recipes.
Trust me when I say I know from personal experience.
You’ll come back for this one.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Recipe by Betty Crocker’s Cookbook
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Beat sugars and vanilla in a large bowl of an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes. Add vanilla and egg. Beat again and scrape down the side of the bowl if necessary. On low speed, beat in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips with a spoon.
3. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
4. Bake 8-12 minutes or until light brown. Cool for 1 minutes on sheet; remove cookies to wire rack.
Happy Friday!
I hope you have a great weekend!
Do you have a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe you use?
Whenever I make chocolate chip cookies, I’m always reminded of that FRIENDS episode where Monica is trying to recreate Phoebe’s grandmothers (?) recipe. Monica makes tons of batches, and then it’s revealed it’s Nestle Tollhouse’s recipe. haha! I love it!

I love this! Sometimes the classic recipes without substitues, special instructions, or different flavors are the best..ie this one!

Next time I make cookies..I WILL make these!

Normally, I use my grandma’s cookie recipe, but it looks quite similar to this one!

Oh my gosh – I am such a cookie monster. I think I’d polish off the dough before it ever hit the cookie sheet.

mmmm. there is nothing better than a good, ole fashioned, simple chocolate chip cookie. my mom has a recipe i’ve been eating for 27 years… pretty sure it’s the back of the tollhouse bag! delicious nonetheless 🙂

Wait the Friends episode is the FIRST thing I thought of when I read your post. “It’s Nest-ley Tollll-huse” “NESTLE TOLLHOUSE!?” Amazing.

Also those cookies look delicious and I need to make them this weekend!
