Summer Sickness

by Kelli H. on August 26, 2011

On Wednesday I had to stay home from work due to being sick! Yuck! If there’s one thing about being sick I can’t stand, it’s being sick in the summer. Of course, I start feeling sick the week it’s been gorgeous out. This whole summer has been SO foggy in the morning’s usually lasting until 10 or 11 a.m. It’s also been really cool in the evenings. I’m thinking it might get nicer in September.

Anyway, I think we can all agree being sick sucks! I was having a major sore throat, headache, and nasty nasal congestion problems. Luckily, my headache and sore throat are already cured but it’s that dang congestion getting to me!

Another terrible thing about being sick is that I missed 2 yoga classes! I usually go on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s after work but I had to miss both classes. I especially love my Thursday class because it’s fast-paced and she kicks our butts! One hour goes by so fast! I love it.

I drank lots of liquids (water and tea) to flush me out and also took lots of Vitamin C as well as D, garlic, ginger, and some other vitamins.

Basically what I need to be cured!
Some of the tea selection I had. Thanks, Mom!
Around noon I started getting kind of hungry and since we had SO many tomatoes I decided to make some fresh tomato soup. It totally hit the spot and I’ve never made tomato soup with fresh tomatoes before. It was kind of fun!
Look at all them tomatoes! So pretty.
I wish I could give you an amazing recipe but it was so basic. Just onion and tomatoes simmer for about 30 minutes. Then puree in the blender, heat back up with 2 cups milk. Nothing fantastic…it was pretty bland but for being sick I think it was great. It was a great summer soup for a sicky. You didn”t really think I’d be in the kitchen whipping up something amazing, did you?!
What’s your favorite kind of tea?
I love tea, it makes me feel very adult like.
My favorite would be Stash Peppermint tea.

Yeah, being sick in the summer SUCKS! I’m glad you’re feeling better though!

My favorite tea is Green Tea OR that peppermint one you like. 🙂 YUM.

….but I still like my French Press coffee the best!
