Liberty

by Kelli H. on July 15, 2011

The video below is of my parents 10 year old doberman, Liberty

We adopted her a few years back after the passing of our friend, Bearin. We did not name Liberty and we couldn’t change her name because she already responded to it so well. Libs has been the strangest dog we’ve had and also most prone to injury. The first day we brought her home she broke a toe. Within the first year she must have went to the vet 10 times. Luckily, she’s been without a visit for over a year now. Unfortunately, Libs is going blind caused by cataracts. A dog that has been blind since birth usually relies on sound and smell to get by. For some reason, Libs can’t seem to grasp that fully and as a result runs into things daily. She still races around the yard and goes about her business like usual but when the sun goes down she starts running into things frequently – quite sad to watch!

Anyway…this post isn’t supposed to make you sad for our ol’ dobe but make you smile as this is one of Libs favorite pastimes in the summer.

Have a GREAT weekend!

I’ll be visiting Lagunita’s Brewery on Saturday so I know it will be a great weekend.
Do you have any cool plans?

Aw, Liberty looks so happy! Except for the whines… the whines aren’t because she can’t find her way out right? Because that would make my heart hurt…

haha, she can definitely get out. I’m not sure what the whines are for expect that dobermans are actually known to whine a lot – funny since they are so “tough”.

What an adorable puppy! Hope you enjoyed your time at the Brewery! I’m jealous that you live in wine country!! I visited out there after I graduated college and LOVED it!!
