St. Patrick’s Day

by Kelli H. on March 23, 2011

I realize St. Patrick’s Day was almost a week ago but I thought I’d share my own St. Patrick’s Day.  I had my mom and dad over since they are still working on their kitchen remodel.  We made corned beef and cabbage in the pressure cooker.  We also did some small white potatoes, cabbage, and carrots.  I made Irish Soda Bread from Brown Eyed Baker’s website but it didn’t really come out how I’d like.  It was very dense and also didn’t get baked thoroughly in the middle.  We also shared some Irish inspired beers which were fun. The picture above is what we tasted.  We had all enjoyed Rouge’s Irish Style Lager when we were in Oregon in March 2009 but it was called Kell’s.  The one on the right is Moylan’s Irish Style Red Ale which was alright but I wasn’t a big fan.  David and my dad enjoyed it though.  It’s also my Nanny’s favorite beer.  Moylan’s is a local brewery in Novato.  The left is Moylan’s Dragoon Dry Irish Stout which I definitely wasn’t a fan of but I did enjoy our little tasting.  All in all, St. Patrick’s Day was great!  It’s one of my favorite holiday’s because I love food based holiday’s.
